Gerry Monteux
After toiling for nearly forty years as a network television sportscaster (known then as Bill Patrick), Gerry Monteux “semi-retired” to his home state of Maine, in 2013. It was there and then that he reshaped his life, deciding to turn his creative passion into a career — that of a professional nature photographer, and ardent defender of wildlife. Having recently built a house in Vermont with his partner Beth, he now calls northern New England his home, with myriad subjects to choose from — Atlantic Puffins, Bald Eagles, Black Bears, Common Loons, Red Foxes, Harbor Seals, shorebirds and songbirds galore — the list is nearly endless. But it must be stated that Gerry’s favorite animal has become, by far, the Maine Moose. He spends what most would consider an inordinate amount of time tracking, communing with, and photographing this magnificent creature. It’s become a love affair of which he’s immensely proud!
Gerry is the author of “Zen and the Art of Moose Photography“. He’s also vice president of Friends of Taunton Bay, a non-profit group dedicated to understanding and protecting the Taunton Bay ecosystem in Downeast Maine. And he’s a Nikon man, whose latest toys are the combo of the Z8 mirrorless body and Sigma 150-600mm lens.
